I watched another movie with a Jake connection: TOWERING INFERNO
It's an old movie from the 70ies with a really impressive cast: Steve McQueen, Paul Newman (Jake's "godfather"), William Holden, Faye Dunaway (so pretty), Fred Astaire (so cute), Richard Chamberlain (so young), O.J. Simpson (I didn't really recognize him) and Robert Wagner (I just love him from "Hart to Hart"). l Of course the movie is very old and so the "special effects" look strange to modern day movie goers. But it's so worth just for the clothes and props that spill the spirit of the 70ies.
Also I think I know where Jake got some of his acting moves from. You can see a lot of Paul Newman's way of acting in Jake and that is not just to speak of the blue eyes (amazing really).
What really got me was one of the last lines in the movie. The Fire Chief (McQueen) says to the architect (Newman): "You know we were pretty lucky tonight, body count's less then 200. You know one of these days, they're gonna kill 10,000 in one of these firetraps and I'm gonna keep eating smoke and carrying out bodies until someone asks us....how to build them" Thinking about 9/11 that's just an eerie thought, especially after I read on Wikipedia that principal photography on "Towering Inferno" was finished on September 11th, 1974.
If you love old movies I'd say it's a must see.

Amazing movie, i've seen million times, i love Steve McQueen! I guess that Gyllenhaal could take inspiration even from McQueen way of acting as he was very very skilled in action scenes! As for me i've seen "Inferno" directed by Dario Argento, all the blood red color drive me mad, i lovelove this movie, definitely a masterpiece if you love mystery occultism movies!

Yes, Steve McQueen was really a brilliant actor.
Thanks for your review as well, although I will most likely never see it, because I don't watch occult movies, too creepy for me.

That's just a matter of taste Sasha, so you're wlecome, to be honest i was just 11 years old the first time that i've seen a Dario Argento movie, but you need to love this genre, as there's a lot of tenions, it's most a thriller with occultism and some very harsh scenes full of blood and murders, but when you'll going to see the whole the movie you find that everything have a sense, an intricate movie indeed.

I saw "KILLERS" with Asthon Kutcher and Kathrine Heigl yesterday. It's a rom-com and I have to say I don't really like Kathrine Heigl that much. To me she only has one way of acting her character and after having seen several movies with her, I can almost tell how she will act out a certain scene. I sure miss Jake's versatility seeing her act.
I think the story was over the top, too much and not realistic at all. Usually I am able to just go with the flow and accept the surroundings as being "true" for the movie (suspend my disbelieve), but in this movie there was just too much to be "believed" to still enjoy the movie. Tom Selleck was the only actor I really enjoyed. This might be a movie for a girl's night where not too much attention is on the movie, but otherwise I would not recommend it.

I love "KILLERS" exaclty for the same reason, Tom Selleck is oustanding, the acting of Asthon Kutcher isn't at the his best, he've done better, maybe he didn't match with his character...

I watched the Patriot with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger but I missed the frist hour. The movie was on tv. It was good. It showed a real dark side of our history that I think most people don't think about.

I love The Petriot as well, love Mel Gibson, sorry to say Ledger didn't impressed me much, as most of his performances.

No worries there....he seem like a dull charactor. It might have been set that way because him and his fauther were not close...movie wasn't bad tho.
