I've tried to translate the first page... Jake Gyllenhaal the charming loverHe has blown us away playing a melancholic gay cowboy in “Brokeback Mountain”, he’s going to make us enthousiastic with “Prince of Persia” , jumping and virile. A meeting with with Hollywood’s new sex symbol.Forget everything you thought you knew about about Jake Gyllenhaal. If you knew something… The actor with the beautiful melancholic look, known in France for his great performance as a homosexual cowboy in “Brokeback Mountain” (2006) has had enough of playing fragile characters. He dreams about action movies, fights and stunts. He shows his oiled muscles in “Prince of Persia” (in theatres 26th of May), a huge production adapted from the videogame with the same name, where he plays an Oriental prince, jumping and pumped-up (supercharged). An ancient-adventure movie, genre “Pirates of the Caribbean”, full of humour and mystery, perfect for watching with family. And which is going to propel him in the very select group of international male stars. However, in the sunny suite from hotel Casa del Mar (House of the Sea), in Santa Monica, where he receives us, Jake’s got nothing from a Schwarzenegger or a Bruce Willis. Tall guy, totally normal, dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, talking with a soft voice, gifted with humour and halftone, he keeps this air of gloomy Droopy which has made the audience enthousiastic (like him so much) (in the United States, his fans are so addicted that they call them “Gyllenhaalics”). No doubt we are going to see a lot from this hot guy in the coming years. But howcome, at age 29, has Jake become sizzling hot? Next page is for later

You're very welcome, Book I'll do my best Maria, I think there is a page missing in the article, because the second page you posted begins within a sentence (and it can't follow directly the first page you posted, because on that page the last sentence ends -with a question mark)...

Thanks for translating, Els, I've done it before and I know it's a lot of work. The journalist seems to know what he's writing about though! ;D

It is indeed a lot of work Not easy if your native language isn't English, nor French, but I like a good challenge. I did another piece. It's not perfect but I guess it's good enough... The last little piece is for tomorrow, I'm really tired now the shooting (note: shooting of the movie), there was a white horse, so nervous and wild, that I had difficulty getting on it. And then there was a little black horse, easier, on which I clearly preferred riding. I will always be the little black horse…” Cute, isn’t it, the idea that he would be a little black horse (that’s) easy to ride? And what to say about his passion for cooking, which doesn’t really reveal a physical macho man? “I have grown and only eat farm products. In my family, they cooked a lot, thàt good that I’ve gotten the taste for it. I think cooking is a way to relax, to meditate, to express one’s love from others. But I’m quite stubborn (uncompromising, unbending). For example, I don’t have any favourite dishes. I think one must be able to perfectly create a dish, no matter which ingredient you start with. I could make you a great soup, using only what’s on this table: your digital recorder and that bowl of cookies!” (laughs) He’s the prince of dry humourOne should see it (him), in Los Angeles, answering female journalists who are under his spell, during a bedazzled round-table conference. Cool, relaxed, he won everybody over with his humour and halftone. Does he think that “Prince of Persia” could please a feminine audience? “Oh yes, because of my arms! I did a lot of body-building and, at one moment, my muscles were so swollen that I couldn’t bend my elbows anymore in my leather suit. It was a bit grotesque…” About his beard and his hair, unusually long in the movie, he answers: “Honestly, I don’t have any merit (note: meaning it’s not he who did all the work). My hairs did all the work. You should be able to drill them (note: not sure of this one sorry).” And why wanting to do all the stunts, at a point where the producer Jerry Bruckheimer had to forbid him (to do all the stunts) for his own safety? “I’m not that reckless… After all, I’m Jewish. As you know, there’s a certain concern for (to care about) one’s own safety in Jewish culture… “ In short, Jake (here it gets difficult to translate, I really can’t translate “avoir beau” properly, sorry, it’s a certain expression in French and I don’t know what’s really meant here…) (…) L.A and loves weightlifting, one would easily see him in a Woody Allen movie. At the same time beautiful and funny? Athletic and sensible? One foot in Los Angeles, the other one in New York? It’s a man’s dream.

Thanks both Mermon for finding the missing page and Els for translating. What a nice article about Jake. Not that we learn a lot of new things, but it's always nice to read how he can win over a room full of women in no time flat!
