That happend to me a lot of times too, expecting something different from seeing the trailers. I guess LAOD could have been promoted differently too, but all in all I was pleased. I love Jamie!

i saw LAOD in theatre with some friends and we all expected it to be way more funny because of the trailer we saw so that was a little bummer. still a great movie, and jake and anne are great together Oh i'm sorry you've expected something different, but it happens frequenlty beacuse trailers at least shown just the most interesting part of the movie, btw even to me looks different that expected, do not worry.

I found some interesting article about making the movie. cinemareview.com/production.asp?prodid=6165Jamie Reidy - "I noticed that something was a bit off, like when Oliver was carrying a briefcase into the office, a person of Bruce's position would never carry a briefcase, I mentioned to Ed [Zwick] and on the very next take the briefcase was gone." "To help prepare Gyllenhaal for the role, Reidy met with the actor several times before production. "Jake was great about asking advice on how a drug rep would handle certain situations," says Reidy. "For example, he didn't understand how a rep could walk in cold into an office and approach the receptionist to try and leave samples or talk to a doctor. I told him it is just like being in a bar and walking up to a woman you don't know. We talked about the lean-in, that when you walk to the reception counter, you don't just stand there, you lean in, just like you would when you talk to a woman at a bar." cinemareview.com/production.asp?prodid=6163"LOVE & OTHER DRUGS is about what it takes to let love in," says Anne Hathaway. "Love is hard work and it's scary and it's all totally worth it!" Adds Jake Gyllenhaal: "It's a comedy and a love story about two people who are running away from the same things: intimacy, connection, and caring. These are some of the most difficult things you can ask of another human being. But the movie is first and foremost a comedy; that's what we were trying to bring out in almost every scene." Producer Scott Stuber notes that "the truth of any good love story comes from how the characters grow up and that's really what this movie is about. It's about two people who have to step out on the cliff that is love. Jamie's got to mature and Maggie needs to let someone love her with all of her flaws."

thanks for sharing Mermon, interesting about running away from intimacy, guess that this point is well undelined from the storyteling of the movie.

We talked about the lean-in, that when you walk to the reception counter, you don't just stand there, you lean in, just like you would when you talk to a woman at a bar , Thanks for mentioning that, because I always like how Jamie leans in and I was wondering if that was something Jake did from experience in his own life or if he was told to do so.

I guess that everyone need to emproove and sometimes forcing a bit our nature, i'm happy that Gyllenhaal try everytime to portrayed a different character, i admire his capacity for putting himself always at stake, and learn new techniques.

I like that fragment very much. It shows what kind of guy real Jamie was and that somehow Jake is different. Now watching those lean-in scenes I will remember about that Jamie's advice. I think it's a kind of breaking ice. Creating the intimacy.

Maria and Els - just like you and probably not only you, I would loooove to see Jake on stage. Especially that he would love to do that, like he said it himself.
But in my case I don't see much chances for that. Unless he would have come to Poland, Cracow and would perform here. ;D I would love it!

Yes he will also never come to Belgium, but honestly, if the opportunity would be there, I would do everything possible to go and see him perform live on stage, I would go to America for it if necessary! Oh yes absolutely, Maria! * dreaming*

I would probably go to as many pieces as I could afford. Seeing Jake perform live! Having a chance for applauding him. Maybe even meeting him in the theatre's foyer during the break or after the play.... sigh. ;D

Do not worry girls, i guess it would impossible that Gyllenhaal open a play in italy as well, but maybe we can put together some money and comes to pay him a visit in USA, i have tow dear friends that live near LA in USA, and i guess that both can offer me to stay for sometime <3 About breacking the ice i guess you made a point Mermon, i think it's appropriate to the situations that Jamie try to explain to Gyllenhaal.
