okay you guys have been talking a lot about Rendition....I just cant read all of this ...Im just gonna post my opinion about the movie. Ive seen Rendition twice. I like it very very very much. I think it was very clever movie. Very good and important subject....well done movie all the way. Douglas is my man! He is my kind of guy...like him very much. One of the most likeable characters Jakes has played IMO. i guess you're righ, about movie as i've already said, it's very good, indeed, and also Gyllenhaal character is a bit unique among those who've played later, i guess that seen in future in some character like Douglas wouldn't hurt! And BTW he's sexy, i love the scene when he put off his shirt in the office....

@ Els About Gyllenhaal way of acting we're quite agree tha he can fill the lack of gags with his expressivity, facla and body language, and this is great for an actor.I cannot stna dactors thta mainly have tow or three expressions, and for the rest of the movie seem that are there just ramdomly.... About a movie that isin't entitle to be just entertainment i don't mean that all movie becomes automatically great juts as put to audience attention something hided, or controversial mainly policy and government arguments, i mean that "Rendiction" is great as movie, not sure if this make sense. And wow another thing in common i love "the silence of the lambs" i raded the book as well, but i like most as book Red Dragon.

I think each one of us agree that Rendition is a good, brave movie and Jake is just marvellous in it - looking good, acting great. It amazed me, that it was possible to make that movie in States about rendition. It looked like it supposed to be a kind of CIA secret, it didn't place USA in good light. And probably it could increase a hatred from terrorist organizations. And a will to vengeance. Actually that movie is quite human, cause our sympathy is not on American/ CIA side, but on Anwar/Douglas' side. Not only because we suppose he's innocent, cause we are not sure by long time, but we just don't agree for usage of those methods. Kidnapping from the airport, lying to family, taking out of the country, brr... awful!
About "The silence of the lamb" - very good movie, moved me very much, great performances, but now I wouldn't be able to watch it again. Too cruel to me, shows too much. As the time passes by, I try to avoid such a cruelty on the screen.

I heard Jake say once that it was difficult to research for Redition cause obviously nobody at the CIA would talk to them about anything even remotly connected to rendition. I don't know if there was a riot in the US about the movie as I am not a Jake fan long enought to remember, but it would make sense for the CIA to just leave it uncommented. That way they won't be caught lying about it and on the other hand they can't say "Yes, that's exactly what we do to keep your life as simple as it is." either.
I haven't seen Silence of the lambs either, never dared to. Funny thing. When it comes to books there's not much that scares me (I like Mo Hayder and Cody McFadden), but i can't look at it on screen. Maybe my mind just blocks the ugly parts upon reading...

About Silence of lamb movie, is far away soft and glossy, i used this terms with reservation, then book, i didn't find it sch crel, there's worser in moveis, like rape, homicide, and women abuse of woman, prostitition, end i itself violence, even in language. About how "Rendiction" was received by critics and by public opinion, I think on the one hand, the CIA did not have interest to comment, as it would have been fanning the flames, and on the other hand, humanitarian organizations, endorsed the film, as much as critical. I see some promotion interview and all the interviewer, and audience as well, was very very interestd to know whant exaclty the movie talkes about. I guess in choral movie are based about stories of lives of charactes thta must be mixed togetehr, Rendiction is a sor one-track mind, in some way, the character haven't any evolution, act, and going on, also are consistent with their choices. I think that "Rendiction" wish just to make our eyes open on some hided reality that sometimes governments tends to keep private. I'm not sure about other country, but in Italy we're all know about this practice since years....

I watched them yesterday - and they are really great. It's like watching an extra little Douglas movie. But I do understand why they were not included in the final cut.
I also saw the Making-of, it was interesting, but I was expecting to see a bit more of Jake there as well.
The cut scene where they lead Anwar to believe he get's to get out and then you realise it's only to get information, that was so terrible. I will watch the movie maybe tonight (as I only saw the extras yesterday), Douglas is really an awesome role for Jake.
