I finally got around to see Proof - and it was so worth the wait. I totally love it! Jake is charming and funny and goodlooking and kind and absolutely 100% believable in it. I know that not everyone is a fan of Gwyneth and usually I am not too fond of her either, but I thought she was very believable as a person of unstable condition. Maybe the reason I can relate to Cathrine so well is - she reminds me of my very best friend. She (my friend) is such a nice person, but so unsure of herself due to what happend to her in her childhood. And while in reality there is absolutly nothing wrong with her, she sometimes feels like she is bearly hanging on. That's the way I feel about Cathrine. I don't think she really has any mental problems, she just spent too much time being dragged under by her dad (a stunning performance by Anthony Hopkins as well) and it's a pitty we don't see more of how she will heal by just being around Hal. Did I mention yet, that I love Hal? Yeah? Well, it can't hurt to say it again! Jake gives a fresh performance and though he is not seen through large parts of the movie when we get to see him he's there, 100%. There is one minor drawback though: I saw it in German, because I was afraid there would be loads of mathematical terms that I would not understand (not the case though) and only saw the first couple of scenes in english. I do have to say that Jake's voice sounded kind of high pitched there, very unusual. I will definately see the movie again, maybe I will adjust to the voice then. Attachments:

I'm so happy you liked it, Sasha. That's one of my favourite Jake's movies. He's so sweet in there. I like the way he looks at the end at the university court in that blue jumper, I like the scene when he runs after Catherine in the car and of course a sex scene and kissing scene on the porch. I think Gwyneth played very well a person in a shell and definitively Jake was the one who helped her to go out of it. In his lovely and charming way. I think that the fact he had sex with her - opened her, made her feel worthy and needed and kind of normal. This sex scene during the gathering after the funeral was so strange. Can you imagine such a situation? It's so American way. Like it's nobody's business. I can't imagine such a situation in Poland. But I liked it a lot. And that sister drinking with the guys? That sister was very interesting character. Actually all the characters were awesome. Anthony Hopkins absolutely great. I've watched that movie so many times, cause it's played on my TV quite often and I always watch it. ;D I wish I could see what's happens in the future. It should definitely be a sequel ;D. And that picture you pasted Maria is beautiful, one of my favourite. I like to watch kissing Jake. Gwyneth was pregnant during that movie and had her humours and Jake was very patient with her. I think it was her secret, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the review Sasha, i guess you made some good point about Proof. I love Hopkins in that movie, but he's always great! It's a very touchy movie, i like how the movie drive with attention and tact into the issue of mental disease, how bond with the audience avoiding stereotypes and common way, i guess as well that Catherine isn't affected by any mental issue, maybe she's just a bit depressed and stressed as well. I don't like Paltrow but in this movie i stand her much more then normal LOL BTW i hate the older sister, she's very very busy following her life and whne finally come back hoem she handled the whole situations like a trouble to fix as fastly as possible, she also enhanced the stress of Catherine.... Hal is ambivalent as a character, you do not understand well, until almost the end of movie, if he is interested in research of Catherine, or her as a woman. The sex scene, uhmm too corny for me, i don't even call sex scene, just some flirting and a kiss, don't get me wrong, but i never seen an girl who've making love wearing the bra.

- Hm, some even does it with high heel shoos and stockings. ;D but of course it was not this case, here well if some women, like me, for istance, done not in bed, but somewhre else, surely they keep some clothes on, but as Hal and Catherine done in bed i found it quite odd, and i don't like it, it's too much short, and corny...but this is just my taste at least, ;D surely Parltrow isn't too much sexy, so good for the audience to didn't see her naked...LOL

I guess also for Gwyneth it must have been strange to be pregnant with her love child and pretend to make love with someone else. I remember I was very unsure about being naked when I was pregnant, so I could totally understand her.

eausavage - - ;D definitely! it was too short! I would love to watch it much longer. I was focused on Jake's look and behaviour, so I didn't pay too much attention to Gwyneth/Catherine bra. But I think that scene was quite interesting and romantic. That guitar music coming from downstairs. Our awareness of all the people at the party. Older sister drinking together with the band of mathematics And Hal and Catherine unexpectedly making love for the first time. All that created very specific atmosphere. Every time I watch it, I want more of it. The same with porch scene. I wished Catherine didn't give Hal that little key so fast. They could have such a lovely day together. It's started so promising. It could be a lazy day, spent together, with kissing, cuddling, talking, getting to know each other better. I liked to watch how Hal has a good influence on Catherine, treating her normal, and how she reacted to him. - ;D I can't stop to laugh at that. It's so funny, Maria . You are one of the kind.

Thanks for sharing your review, Sasha I'm happy you liked the movie As you already know, it's not my favourite Jake movie. I feel there's something missing, something not 100%, I would really have loved to see more of Hal and to see more profoundness in his character, it's got nothing to do with Jake, because his acting is superb! -like always- I just think it's a pity he didn't get much to work with, even if he's "only" a supporting actor in this movie... I don't think it's a bad movie, not at all, it's just not one of my Jake favourites... Me too! <3 I agree! I like Anthony Hopkins very much, I think he's a great actor! I agree with you, Maria! Hahaha LOL Maria, so funny!

I remember I was very unsure about being naked when I was pregnant, so I could totally understand her. well i don't understand why Paltrow forced herself in doind something she's clealry not confortable to do ;D she isin't sexy, she never gave me sexual vibe, or sensula feelings in all her performance, surely she can act good, sometimes, but if you're not able to do sex scene, better to quite next time, but maybe she cannot refrain herself in lying under Gyllenhaal LOL Maybe it's me but i find quite off the whole "sex" scene, too fast, too abrupt, maybe there's the classic air sugary, but definitely not very sensual, and even less chemistry between them-Gyllenhaal and Paltrow-what the heck, Ledger and Gyllenhaal were far longer well together ... LOL ;D Surely Hal have a positive influence on Catherine, i agree with you!

maybe she cannot refrain herself in lying under Gyllenhaal LOL Who in his right mind could? The two of them did have a special chemistry, there is no denying that! But I just like Hal so much, I personnaly find the character of Hal more likeable than the character of Jack Twist. I know that just my taste and that you're not going to agree, Maria. But Hal touched something inside me, I had butterflies in my stomach watching him with Cathrine on the porch. How he wanted nothing more than to be with her, to caress and hold her and at the same time holding back because he didn't want to scare her off.

Who in his right mind could? LOL Sasha you made a point! Well exactly i just with to pointed that there's much more erotic and sexual tension between Ledger and Gyllenhaal, then between Paltrow and Gyllenhaal, and i guess it could be a little bit odd as the first couple are a male couple, i guess one of the skills of Paltrow isin't the sensuality. About Hal and Jack Twist is just tase in the end, i can just linked to myslef talking about bond or not in this or that character, the performance could be a reaosn, but mostly how much hit into your emotionality. The way the act in the movie, something like that. I bond very very much with Jack Twist, tru Hal is very toughy and deep either, i love how he try to handle the mental disease of Catherine, how Hal confort her.But i'm not quite sure he cares totally juts about her sicne the start, even if in the end it's clear that Hal truly cares obout Catherine needs.I find very very deep and real what you've statet about Hal in the end.
