Jake Gyllenhaal will be in an episode of Man vs WildProfessional lunatic Bear Grylls has confirmed that Love and Other Drugs star Jake Gyllenhaal will be the next Hollywood actor to join his adventure show Man vs Wild. Bear — a man who's drunk his own wee and the warm blood of animals he's killed with his bare hands (he is amazing) — revealed that his yet-to-be-filmed collaboration with Jake came about because of an offhand remark the actor made on a talk show. "Jake was just joking [about what it's like to be famous]," Bear told reporters during his recent trip to Sydney. "He was going, 'Yeah, it's great, I get whatever I want — if I get in trouble in the wild I just call Bear Grylls." Bear and Jake had never actually met at that point, but it wasn't long before the former called up the latter and invited him to "put his money where his mouth is". And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why you never make jokes about Bear Grylls. The man is hardcore. Other celebs to join Bear on his wacky adventures include Will Ferrell and Ben Stiller. www.yourtv.com.au/blog.aspx?blogentryid=795171&showcomments=true

I'm really excited about this, if, as you say, it's true. It's a rare chance to see Jake as himself, when he's not promoting a project or doing an award show. But the episode won't be for a while, I would guess. But I don't know this show. Can anyone tell me how/where to find it? I tried to play the video on the site but it wasn't "available," whatever that indicates.

It is not easy to watch, Evie: It was kind of you to find this link, but I'll have to pass on watching it! I'm very squeamish, and stuff like this creeps me out, seriously. Is this an Australian show? The report at the original link mentions a recent trip to Sydney, but it's not clear whose trip, Bear's or Jake's. We know Jake did LAOD promo in Australia, but I'm not sure it was in Sydney. Anyway, I've never heard of the show. Does it play in the US? If so, on which channel? When?

I don't know this show either. Please tell me it's not that Dschungle show "I'm a star - get me out of here" or whatever it's called in english, the one where Katie Price and Peter Andre met, right?

I'm not a fan of that kind of survival programmes, but who know, maybe with Jake will be different. I just hope he won't be force to eat any larva or warm with his gorgeous mouth. That guy eating larva - it was disgusting. He didn't look like he was starving, he just made it for a movie and with his face expression at that moment... brr! I wonder if it suppose to be one episode with Jake or a series taking long time, somewhere in the jungle. I would prefer to see it in hot weather rather, than in freezing place. I prefer Jake to sweat than to shake with red nose and livid face.

I prefer Jake to sweat than to shake with red nose and livid face. Yes, Jake may have jumped into a risky situation. As Robert Downey Jr. said, Jake is "wet, dark and wild," and will do anything, so maybe we should expect the worst. If this Bear guy dares Jake to do something strange, Jake will accept the challenge and do it! I just pray nobody gets hurt. I would expect Jake to just do one episode; he's not a TV type of celebrity and he only appears for special occasions, like promoting his movies or giving awards. Besides, he's busy with his film career and IMO probably couldn't give that much time to a TV series. I normally don't watch the survival or in-the-wild shows either. I never liked Steve Erwin's program (which I saw bits and pieces of) because he basically disturbed animals in their natural environments when they weren't bothering anybody and forced them to strike back at him to create phony excitement (but plenty of danger, ultimately). Remember? Erwin was the Australian who got killed when he went swimming with the sting rays. He was also sharply criticized for an episode in which he carried his little baby son right up close to a crocodile that was loose in the wild.

so i remember correclty that was him, i troughts he was austarlian, i remenbre that episode you've mentioned Evie, agree at all about the animal that get disturbed....i hate those thing,,,, but over then that i'm sure tha Gyllenhaal wouldn't be such foolish to take some useless risck for his own safety, so i wouldn't worry at all, i'm sure as well that he'll planning to do just an episode or two at least...

Wow, crazy news! Didn't Jake say in an interview while promoting LAOD (I think) that Bear called/contacted him to say he liked the beard Jake was growing over the summer? Lol. He probably thought Jake looked like he could be a wild survival man instructor too. Anyway, do not worry, I highly doubt Jake would be doing anything too crazy. Bear has done some crazy crazy things on his show, but he's the professional, and it's his show. I remember when Will Ferrell was a guest star, it was all just fun. Bear did all the work, and Ferrell was just along for the ride, making it funny along the way. I'm sure Stiller's guest spot was the same way. I'm pretty sure the celebrities that join Grylls for an episode are well taken care of. And while, yes, Bear goes to very rough/dangerous terrains, we must remember it is a reality tv show. Bear is an expert, and I'm sure well protected. He's got a whole crew with him. Like I said, Jake will probably be just along for the ride. I don't think producers want to rough up their celebrity guest stars too much. I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but it's being reported that Jake has landed the lead role in a gritty cop drama. I believe Variety dropped the news, but I saw it on justjared. Interesting, right? I've been dying to know what Jake's next role was going to be. I love that Jake is up for pretty much anything.
