I finally saw ZODIAC yesterday evening together with my hubby. That is such a good movie, I liked it a lot. Jake is awesome in that movie, he matures believable in the course of the film. Because the movie plays for a period of about 10 years and Jake starts out as this goofy, young insecure father and "ages" very well, you can see him behave differently when he is supposed to be older. RDJ and Mark Ruffalo are enjoyable as well, they carry you over the "jake-free" period just well. The movie is rather long and while a lot of story is being told, not much happens in the movie really. Still the atmosphere is kept throughout and I never got bored. The stabbing scene is nothing for people who scare themselves easily. The creepy feeling keeps throughout the movie and I was so scared when Jake is at the house of this movie theater employee.
My hubby is no Jake-fan but he had to admit that "Gylly" (as he calls him) is one heck of an actor.
I had rented the movie but the place has a copy for sale as well and I am definately going to get it. I really want to see it again.

Sasha4Jake: I agree with you totally on everything you said about "Zodiac", it's a very good movie, with great and believable acting, yes it's rather long and there's not much action, but I think that's a very good thing, because the whole atmosphere that's created suits the movie very well, and -like you said- it never becomes boring. It's, unfortunately, based on a true story. The stabbing scene is indeed very creepy I saw the movie two times, the second time I looked away from that scene. My boyfriend likes the movie too My boyfriend is no Jake-fan either but he also thinks he's a very good actor He sometimes teases me, playful, and asks me "What's the name of that actor you like so much?" and then he says "Oh yeah, Jake... Gullenhaly" he always comes up with different names but he knows it's "Gyllenhaal"

I love Zodiac too, it's an amazng ovie, directed very well, the screenplay is very good, also it's based on a true story, this add more appealing to the whole work, as usual Gyllenhaal is excellent, he acting differently then he's used to, quite skilled, and different, also Mark Ruffalo stolen my heart, i love his way of acting too. I'm confident with american serial killer, so far i have to admit that i'm much into this, i've readed book, make some reserch on my own, and see all the movies that talks about them. The best scene is the one where Robert is in the basement alone, and he's quite scary that the man he's in front of him is zodiac. Funny about the scary/creepy scenes as several complain that the movie have few splatter/blood scene, and that is quite slow, so far i simply like it, Fincher is a very good director. haha your boyfrens Els hav a funny knck for Gyllenhaal, as much as your Husband Sasha!

Me too, I'm interested in serial killers and read books about it, like Robert K. Ressler's "Whoever Fights Monsters". They scare me a lot but -I don't know why- something in me wants to try to understand why they kill, because it's something that's beyond me. My boyfriend's sister knows a lot about this subject, she studied criminology and profiling (in Scotland). She has talked with (serial) killers (and other criminals).

Indeed, interesting and very nice to share our thoughts and interests and to find out we have quite some things in common Yes sometimes she talks about it, it's very interesting! She's now at university, studying, she wants to become a "doctor in criminology". Sometimes she writes pieces about it in crime magazines, it's very interesting! She now mostly focuses on "profiling", it's something that isn't that well known in Belgium yet. She had to go study it in Glasgow because in Belgium it's not possible. She's really smart, it's not to be underestimated, to go to university, study a difficult subject, in another language(with quite a lot of "slang" ) and she passed, with excellent results xxx

I've seen 15 of Jake's movie, without City Slickers A Dangerous Woman Josh and S.A.M Homegrown Lovely & Amazing I liked all of them, though I have to admit I liked some of them more than the others. I would love to see A Dangerous Woman. Did you know, that it was directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenplay is wrote by Jake's mother Naomi Foner, and together with their two kids playing in there - it's sounds like Gyllenhaal's movie. Jake was around 12 years old in that movie. And did you see that - all scenes from Lovely and Amazing where we can find Jake. It was not much, but he acted very well, with all his charm. Jake Gyllenhaal in Lovely and Amazing..And today's morning I've watched for the second time Bubble Boy with a great pleasure. It's such a sweet movie with the specific humour. Jake is adorable here and the story is one of the kind. With the moral - never give up your dreams.

Indeed you're right about Lovely And Amazing (btw I think Monday or Tuesday you can expect something in your letterbox ) About A Dangerous Woman, I think you are mistaken: it's not with Jamie Lee Curtis but with Debra Winger She plays very well in that movie, it's really an interesting movie, worth watching!
