After spamming the picture thread with pics of my horse, I thought it might be a better idea to open a pet- thread *smiling at mermon*so everyone can introduce your pets, post pics and tell stories about them

Good idea! I have a female cat. I call her "Kiciulka" but it's not a real name. She's more than 10 years old, very charming, but not too easy. Getting more peaceful with age. She was quite wild at the beginning. I took her, when her mom died.

this is my horse 'Lucas': Now he is already 30 years old (in this pic he was 26) but I can still ride him a little. He is mine for 14 years now. Before, he belonged to a riding club and as a teenager I looked after him. When the club couldn't afford the riding school any more, the horses had to be sold- and after many tears my parents allowed me to buy him. He is a very gentle horse but also stubborn as hell. We suppose, he might be a Welsh Cob, but we don't know for sure. This was my dog 'Django' who died 2 years ago I still miss him very much! For me, pets are not only animals but family members... and Django was my "little brother" for nearly 12 years.

Well.... usually they live about 25 years...So Lucas iss veeeeery old^^ But a couple of days ago I read about a horse that is 51!!! Our next goal is 35- but secretly we aim at at least 40 (as long as he is healthy) He is nearly blind by now (always was blind on his right eye) but he knows the stable and the meadows for 14 years so he's fine with that.

When I was a teenager I lost my beloved dog as well. It's always a terrible loss. greeneyedwitch1103 Do you pay for full Lucas' maintenance? It must be very expensive. I wish you to have him many years yet! jfaulkin - what do you mean by "prudy?"

Unfortunately, Lucas' best friend, a 27 year old pony called 'Rasputin' is now cantering i through pony-heaven as a golden cloud. We all are very sad. We knew him for 12 years.... But he was very ill and had to be released

We all are very sad and miss him and his owner very much. But she wrote me a message that Rasputin got burnt and his ashes were buried in her parents' garden today. So he is still 'with her' in a way.
