Since the video is over 8 minutes long and is mostly Jake, I think it's okay to post it in this section:
Be warned though: it's not for sensible people AND not for kids!
I wanted to see Jake in a darker role for ages and this is brilliant, IMO!

See my comment on this video in the Gyllenhaalics section under Jake's News for March (your post, I think).
I agree, brilliant work...but what a disturbing video.

I just watched this video. What a brutal, violent piece of work. I couldn't catch the words to the music, so I don't know how the visual story relates to them. The IHJ home page describes Jake's appearance as a cameo. Not at all--he's the star of the video; it's his character's story. And what a vicious character: a killer who strikes without warning upon people who either don't know him or have no idea how deadly his rage is. Maybe those attacks are all in the character's imagination, but still. I can see why Jake would be drawn to such a project. The video is a tremendous showcase for him. It displays a side of his talent he hasn't used before, which casting people and directors might not believe was in his range. His character combines cruelty and danger on the outside with a complex, brooding inner self. Jake was very convincing to me. I hate it when he smokes though--and he seems to be inhaling, too. I didn't see him wearing the glasses he had on in earlier photos from the video shoot. But watching him get a shave turned me on. I found these lyrics on the net, but even reading along I find it hard to understand all of them, I thinks it's not 100% correct: I agree, it shows a new side of him. I also hope that it will open new doors and possibilities for him. If you look closely you can see Jake in glasses in the very first frame, but only from the back (the rim of the glasses shows).

Thanks for finding the lyrics, Sasha. I must say, even if not totally correct, they are incoherent and say absolutely nothing. Horrible as it is, the video at least puts a story to what otherwise comes off as gibberish. And while the video is an excellent display for Jake's range as an actor, I hate that he associated himself with such negative, bloody doings.

Thanks for posting the vid, Sasha! I can't find words to say how really disturbing and repulsive I think that vid is However... I LOVE the fact that Jake -finally!- plays a disturbing, dark role, and... he does an amazing job (and god he looks sooo attractive <3)!!! He is a BRILLIANT -and imo now much more complete- actor!!! *two thumbs up* (I would put more thumbs up if I had more )!

The vid is strong, not for kids or very sensitive people. But I found it's made perfectly. I'm so happy it's so long and has Jake in almost every scene. Sasha! Now when we know the vid, lyrics makes sense to me! Jake is scary and convincing. So many wanted to see him in a dark movie as a bad character, so here we go! Jake the Ripper! Now I believe he may play a badass, before I didn't see that. His eyes were so scary empty!

I think, the video and lyrics don't need to go together necessarily.
Yesterday I read (on WDW) that Daniel Wolfe had been wanting to do a British version of the slasher genre as a music video for quite some time and the Shoes didn't mind the idea. Then he asked Jake if he would do it and again he got a yes.
So I think it was just something Wolfe wanted to do, independant of the song.

I love the vid. It was great to see a side of Jake that hasn't been seen before. I think this will help open the door for movie roles.

I love the vid. It was great to see a side of Jake that hasn't been seen before. I think this will help open the door for movie roles. Just read the home page with the news about Jake being in negotiations for An Enemy. This sounds really promising--I hope it works out for him. True, the film is described as dark and edgy, but it seems he wants to go in that direction now. The story sounds complex (and spooky), more of a psychological study, not just mindless violence. Jake would be playing two separate characters. OMG--two Jakes in one movie. Can't wait!

Seeing Jake twice in one movie would definately make up for not being able to watch him shoot Motor City in my own country!

Spotted just today the video, i was aware that he've filmed before leaving to Berlin film Festival, anyway i simply find amazing the project. It's a sort of mini-movie, with this dance song as music background, it reminds me a lot something of Micheal Jackson video, where a part of the video telling a story and was acted. ;D Well Gyllenhaal did it perfectly his character, a sort of Donnie Darko, as someone pointed on YT comments, and i love it, the scene with seagulls reminds me the feelings and vibes of Donnie Darko, even Gyllenhaal's hairstyle reminds me Donnie, as well as the hammer scene. Also the scene after the first homicide where he's playing with woodstock on the table is intense. There's also an hot scene in the gym sauna, defnitely hot hot hot I think he've cope a great performance, full of emotion, dark and disturbing emotions, but i love it, so far i see nothing such schoking but maybe it's just me, it's a trip into a serial killer mind that developing his modus agendi from time to time I hope that in future Gyllenhaal could portray a negative/disturbed character, it would be a deal!

- I think that Jake's acting in scene is a masterpiece! I wouldn't believe he could act like that if I wouldn't see it.
- Hot, hot, hot! Indeed! It looks like Jake really spent some time in sauna then, cause his skin looks like being exposed to hot temperature for some time. That place it's kind of old-fashioned, huge and so empty. Only Jake and white towel in there! ;D
- Sure he could. If he takes the role in TheEnemy - I believe, his double - a doppelgänger - is a black character, kind of like in Black Swan. I hope it won't throw you away, Maria!

I've read about The Enemy, which Gyllenhaal is dealing acutally, i hope he can get the role, i'm sure he can be amazing! About the dark characters i hope he cna cope something like Kevin Spacey in " Seven" or Anthony Hopkins in " The Silence of The Lamb", or even Ralph Fienness in " The Red Dragon", or Daniel Craig in " Infamous". There's few scenes that are very very intense, even his glance in the laundry to the little kid, or his eyes, he seems almost a fierce at the barber shop, and what about while he's eating in the restaurant wow! And what about the scene when he've pounds his fist against the wall, following the rhythm of the music? Well for the sauna scene is simply hot, quite credible, maybe he've spent some time in the sauna before filming that scene, surely Gyllenhaal hae some sex appeal, even as disturbed psyco killer!
