Those were great to read. Can't imaging getting off an plain, just to be ploped down for several different interview(about the same thing) and take it so well. I like the way he sneeks in jokes to break the mood too...Thanks for posting.

MrsJakobGyllenhaal, EOW is a small production. The production budget is $ 5 million and the duration of the filming is only 30 days.

I am now thinking that maybe he was talking about "Man vs. Wild" - which was a very small production indeed. (That was filmed less than a week after these interviews were done and nowbody new about it then.) And I think the 5 mil budget is not for the entire movie, just for casting some of the supporting actors.

I think he was referring to the movie. 5 million is the budget of the entire production of End Of Watch. It's an indie film. For example, Blue Valentine has a budget of only 1 million.

What to do during the next five months? In the website IMDB, www.imdb.com/name/nm0350453/ , doesn't seem to exist on other projects for this and next year ...

I do not know if he has other projects after End of Watch.
I do not know if this is all a consequence of the failure of POP.

Thanks for the update, Monica. Makes me even more curious about EOW, Jake seems to be better in small movies than in big ones...

I do not know if he has other projects after End of Watch. I do not know if this is all a consequence of the failure of POP. I have thoughts like this, too, monicabbm. I think the issue isn't a simple one, and there are many factors that enter into it. Jake has worked steadily since he starred in October Sky. He's always the lead, the co-star, or one of the key members of an ensemble cast. People in the business appreciate and respect his talent; I imagine he turns down offers all the time. But he isn't yet (as far as I can judge) a bankable star. He hasn't carried a movie that was a major box-office success, meaning that his name alone won't draw big enough audiences to a film the way, say, Johnny Depp's does, or Angelina Jolie's, or Brad Pitt's. But even big stars have their flops, and nobody's name is a guarantee of anything. In Jake's case, his greatest chance to establish himself as bankable was PoP, and that didn't do it. I think PoP made money, so it wasn't a financial disaster, but it didn't catch fire with audiences, in spite of one of the most intense promotional campaigns I can ever remember. Some of Jake's films haven't done well--Bubble Boy, Rendition, and Brothers, for example--but his work is usually praised (I personally think he was fantastic in Brothers). Jake is slogging away right now: making independent, relatively small-budget movies. I think he is still choosy about his projects, and doesn't work on anything he doesn't like. He's played such a range of characters in the past few years too. That in itself is good thing for an actor, and I am hoping that if he keeps doing that, he will have a real hit and move up to be a bigger star. We Gyllenhaalics will go see him in anything, of course, but he needs to widen his appeal, and he can only do that by continuing to make movies.

Have you seen this fan-made poster for 'Safe Haven' that features Bethany Galeotti and Jake Gyllenhaal? It's not real (the cast for the film has not be announced), but based on your casting ideas for 'Safe Haven', it's clear that some of you would love to see this pair on screen when the film hits theaters in June 2012! If you have your own casting ideas, feel free to share in the comments. from Nicholas Sparks facebook

Oh, thanks for sharing, Dejan. I would love to see Jake in a Sparks movie, I looooved "The notebook"! But somehow that doesn't seem like the kind of movie Jake would do, who knows though.

I agree with most of your thoughts, Evie, but I am not sure Jake does. Meaning: I am not sure he's looking to be up there with the Depps, Pitts and Jolies of his time. Sometimes I think we want this for him more than he does. Of course he wants success and he wants people to see his stuff or he would stop acting all together. But I think he enjoys his life the way it is. He does not like to have paps all over his life even now, it would only get worse if he was more successful. Just look at what Pitt and Jolie have to go through. Even their kids get dragged all over the news. Their poor little girl Shilo - they are discussing that girls sexual orientation because she is usually dressed like a boy - the girl is not even a first grader yet, for god's sake! I don't think that this is something Jake would want for his own family. And really - fame and money doesn't make you happy, family and love do. And Jake knows this, I'm sure. I think he found the perfect balance as far as that is possible in the business he's in.
