I am so mad that this movie didn't do so well in the US cause I really love it. I wish they would do a sequal (I'd love to see Jake all worked up again) but by the box office results I don't think that will happen.

What?Possible POP oscar Nominee? Well sorry to be rude but entrateinment movies shouldn't deserv any nomination, not evev for special effetcs..even if i'm a Gyllenhaal fans, i don't think that is necessary...

Sweety, I'm sorry if I have to object but vertually ALL movies besides maybe Inception and Shutter Island in this category are entertainment movies. A movie which relies on story only usually doesn't need special effects that would be oscar worthy.

Unfortunaltely i think that "The Dark Night" oscar winner in 2007, broken a taboo, it's sad what Ledger's oscar made to academy , so unfortunately we'll seen often this commercial/entratment movie reach oscar nominee, and maybe sometime wins too... Too bad, i don't think this movies have nothing to tell, nor artistic reason to praise, i went mad when i've seen "Avatar" in past edition, reach several nominee....just my two

To me there's a difference between movies made to entertain and movies made for the movie itself. I know that making a movie can be a form of art and some are really artistic. But usually those require a certain seriousness to be watched. And frankly - after a day of dealing with snappy customers, upset kids and nosey neighbors I must rather just watch Jake beat the s*** out of some persian assasins than have to watch an artistic yet depressing film. And I don't believe that playing comedy is so much easier than doing "serious" work. So IMO it's OK that not only artsy movies get considered for the oscars.
But it's good for you to have your own opinion anyways.

Of course i have my opinion, and i'm fine with yours, but "Cold Blood" isn't comparable at all to "Prince of Persia", this movie is just a family and entrateiment movi, and it's fine, but isin't much more then this, have no artistic value, nor deserva a nominee, as well as ironman, avatar, the drak night, pirates form caribbean and so it goes, i know that going in theatre is sometime having a good time, and relax, simply the academy should praise artistic contribution much more then just family or kids entertainment, industry already make movie to rasie profit and money, academy should praise art in movies, not just the money in movies, I don't stated that making comedy is easier then making drama movies, but POP isn't a comedy, as well as Iron, Avatar, The dark Night, and Pireates from carriebbean, Harry potter saga, or Twilight, these are just family/kids movie, nothing more then this.

Got your point - still this special category - SPECIAL EFFECTS - doesn't really have anything to do with the film itself, it's more about the technical stuff and you gotta admit that especially Avatar took special effects to a whole new level.

Sasah, the main point is that even in special effect you should give more chances to artist reason, not major/big production movie that can afford the most innovative tecnique? Avatar is purely shit sorry, beside the spacial effect, that didn't impressed me much btw, what's remains? That's the main question,

eausavage - I'm sorry too, this is simply my opinion, of a lady, who've seen several movies, of several genre, and find very end in itself this genre of movies, drama, comedy, musical, horror, sci-fi, romantic, sply, action, police, western I don't pay 8€ of ticket to seen some odd puppet with tail, like dinosaurs, recreated in 3-d, jumping from one tree to another, imitating pocahontas in screeplay, simply ridiculous, like all the praise aroused. I dont's see beside special effect, and box office how Avatar could be barely consider a movie, Far away better "whitesnow" at least.

Hahaha, that's funny, how people differently seen that movie. I was 7 times in the cinema and few times watched it at home. I spent 4 months of my life to translate Avatar's screenplay to my language. I absolutely adore it. it has a special place in my heart. That movie should be seen in IMAX. Did you have a chance? On normal screen it just a fairy tale, on IMAX you are in different world. I liked everything in AVATAR. But of course it's a matter of taste, so I don't try to convince you. I am happy to know it and I wait for sequels. At least in that case they will be made for sure. Not like with POP sequels. But I don't give up my hopes. I would love to see little Dastans and Taminas. And other adventures of their parents and more kisses as well. ;D

Avatar has nothing to do about Cinema, not acting, just some weird blueish beings, and special effect in my POV.... Oh BTW seems that Avatar sequel didn't comes to be realized shortly, Cameron needs too much money and producer take a step back. About different opinion, good for you to pointed that you didn't meant to change my mind as i get the converse honestly.... About POP let's see if there'll a chance to see a sequel....

Hahaha, that's funny, how people differently seen that movie. I was 7 times in the cinema and few times watched it at home. ... on IMAX you are in different world. Ha, ha, me too. I saw it twice at the movies and I watched it several times at my sisters place as they have the perfect TV set for it. To me this is like a perfect date movie. Action for the guys, romance for the ladies. This world was created with so much love for details, the language, the animals they created, the plants, how everything glowed in the dark. I just loved it. And - sadly - the story is so true. THAT's exactly what would happen if mankind really was able to fly to different planets. They would not cherrish what other cultures have made, but would ruin everything for their own profit. So I totally understand your love for this movie. Too bad, you don't like it Maria, but wouldn't this world be a grey place if we all liked the same stuff. Me too!

Thanks for this interview, Mermon. I could tell from all his promo interviews how proud he was of being in this movie. That's why I feel so sorry for everybody involved that it did so poorly on the box office.

I'm sory Sashe i don't see any message that you've seen in avatar, it's just effects and box office, really really a pre-done movie, prefect to raise profits, it's not cause i didn't have the right TV that i don't like it as simply isn't a movie, or at least animation movie suitable for child, nothing more then this, and the screenpay is a ripp-off of Pochahontas, i don't see no how i cold find interesting a stuff like this.... I just just wish to pointed not cause i'm not fine with yout opinion, but just to explain that it wasen't a matter of right TV or something like this, and in the end are just taste , and taste aren't predicatble, "De gustibus non disputandum est" latins used to say
