I LOVE this movie! I recently read the short story that it's based off of after watching the movie (twice in three days) with my friends because they wanted to see it. Jake did the part of Jack perfectly! I think it might have turned one of my friends into a Gyllenhaalic because he was questioning me about the movie and him . Great movie, it is the only movie I have seen in a long time hat no matter how often I see it, I can feel the tears coming on.

I own the DVD and have played it too many times to count. When it was still fairly new to me, I cried every time I watched it. The story it's based on is stunning as well. One of the many wonderful things about the movie is that it is so faithful to the story. The writers changed or added some elements so that it would work as a film, but they kept the truth of Annie Proulx's story from beginning to end.

I recently read the story and I completely agree, the story is fantastic and it's amazing what Annie Proulx did in so few words. I thought that what the writers did really added to the emotional power of the story (part of why I cry haha). I'm really glad they stuck so well to the story itself so I didn't get really confused when I was reading it.
also, on a random note, how does one quote something? would that be under an faq topic?

Right, girls! Anne Proulx' short story is written so well, being so short. And the script added all the goods to it, didn't change it really. One thing is changed for better is Jack Twist's teeth! ;D I love Brokeback Mountain! I was not so lucky to share it happily with friends. The one I showed it, disliked the gay theme , I couldn't discuss it with her really.

Such a great movie. IMO it not a gay story but one of love. The fact they cant share their love with the rest of the world. I dont understand how ppl cant look past the so call gay part of it.

I saw the film at the cinema a couple of times. Brilliant movie, brilliant acting, direction, writing, etc. I spent that last 20 mins crying. So I own the DVD, but I can't watch it. It is a very sad story for me, but it was made even worse by Heath Ledger's death. He was so talented and destined for greater things both in front of and behind the camera. It's a cliche, but what a waste.

Every now and then the Showtime channel plays the real BBM, and I find I can watch it now without getting extra upset over Heath. Like you, I do still look at him and feel such a sense of loss--he would have done magnificent things. Are you aware that there is a butchered version of the film that takes all the life and heart out of it? The Bravo channel occasionally runs it. This mutant BBM makes me furious.

Hey Evie. I LOL'ed at your BBM mutant comment! It's so true! My "favorite" part of the mutant BBM was when "Jack F'ing Twist" became "Jack Frederick Twist!" LOL! So awful. Wouldn't just bleeping out the cuss word be better than changing the dialogue completely?

I missed that Jack Twist change, but since I barely managed to watch the mutant once, the full range of its atrocities has escaped my memory, which is a good thing too. I agree--a bleep would have been better than "Frederick." Makes no sense. Wonder how it would have sounded to substitute "Bucking"? You know, to connect with Jack's bronco-riding days? LOL and OMG. Anyway, nothing can save that dreadful BBM version.

What? "Jack Frederick Twist"?!!! I would fall from a chair watching this. It would surely ruin that wonderful scene for me. I don't understand US TV and cinema rules at all. We have BBM on Polish TV from time to time. Always at late night, but real version. I can't imagine such a massacre on a wonderful movie. And yet there are TV series with the vampires drinking blood, killing people. And in general many violent movies. So strange. I didn't watch BBM for a long time as well. Not because of Heath's death, cause he already passed away, when I watched it for the first time. Just, this movie, the most beautiful in the world for me, is so moving, awakes so many feelings in me, that after many times watching, I feel I need a long break. But I'm always ready to watch it with someone who doesn't know it yet. It happened once, but it was a mistake! My friend didn't like gay romance at all, couldn't see beyond that. Her loss!

No I didn't know there was a butchered version of it. It sounds appalling ! I'd definitely better hold onto my DVD. Why bother showing the film at all, if that's what they do? It's bad enough when you have to watch a film with adverts spread all the way through it.
I will get around to watching BBM again. I was able to watch "The dark knight", but probably only as Heath is so unrecognisable in it, but I'll get there one day.

Evie: Hey girl. I know I haven't been on here in forever, but I still love all of you guys and of course still love our guy. I don't have twitter either. I don't think I'd have many followers! Yes; no lie, Jack F'ing Twist became Jack Frederick Twist! It was such an awful edit; it definitely ruined the moment. Mermon: Yes, violence is shown a lot more than sex/romance isn't it? If I remember correctly, FNIT wasn't shown from inside the tent; it was cut to the outside of the tent with background noise. And SNIT was edited too, if there at all. Of course the sex scenes with the women were still present. It felt like the Bravo version took out the same sex love aspect!
