I really like Patrick Swayze's "She's like the wind" from DD Brings back memories indeed... I especially loved him in "North and South" as Orry Main So sad that he died

I've just seen "The American" with George Clooney. Wow I think this movie is so boring and most of all very pretentious. A really very small story -if you can call it a "story"- from which they tried to make a whole movie. And I've got absolutely nothing against "slow" or "art" movies -on the contrary!- but they have to be interesting, they have to have something to tell, something interesting. Which imo wasn't the case at all here. I'm not a GC fan and probably will never be (he was good though, in "Up in the Air" imo)...

i thoughts this wouldn't be a good movie, as the director was previously in music industry as videoclip director Anton Corbin, he've collaborate for over 15 years with Depeche Mode, but one thing is a videclip, another is filming a movie.....

On top of it this movie has been promoted the wrong way, when you read the short text on the dvd, it seems like an exciting movie, with action; it is neither... That put aside, it still could've been a good movie, but it wasn't imo. Oh I didn't know that, yes I can imagine the director was previously in music industry, when you see the cinematography of the movie... but indeed like you said: a good videoclip director doesn't make automaticly a good movie director...

erhhhh actually he wasen't such popular when he've started to collaborate with Depeche Mode, BTW some of his videoclip was nice, "In your Room" is very strong video and he's the director... But i second at all your thoughts....

Maria, I saw Marie Antoinette a couple of years ago, I don't remember much detail, but I know the look of the costumes and sets was so awesome. And the music and the way she had portraied everyone made it look so modern and upbeat. You could understand why people had that sort of lifestyle back then. Cause usually when that time is portraied the way it really was it doesn't seem to be something you'd wanna have also. By the way Sophia Coppola set it up it made it easier to understand what it really meant to people back then (I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say).
