Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm Gyllenholic I'm afraid to admit - at last. I've tried to quit him, but it's not worked - oh well, if you can't beat them, join them!! ;D The first Jakey movie I saw was Prince of Persia and after about two years decided to get some more DVD's - oh yes, I'm a slow burner...then whoosh! I'm gradually working my way through his movies - and looking forward to his new ones! Loved Source Code, Brokeback and Donnie Darko

Hi Amanda! I'm Marzena from Poland! My adventure with Jake started as in your case with Prince of Persia, but I got such a crush that I've watched all his films as soon as possible. Now I have to wait for new movies. Nothing left for me from the old ones. Feel welcome here!

Hi Marzena,
I've been to Krakow - what a beautiful city!! I spent ten days walking and touring Poland, including Zacopane - did I spell that right?! Went for a climb in the Tartra mountains - really hard work!
Yes, I'm wondering what I'll do once I've watched all Jake's old movies - can't bare the thought of having to wait months for the new ones to come out - oh well, will just have to keep re-watching the old ones (my partner Guy sighs with boredom yet again - although I don't know what he worries about - he looks like Jake Gylls himself!)

Lucky you to have a personal Jake for yourself! I'm glad you liked my city and other places in Poland! Nice! Mountain's city is Zakopane in Tatry Enjoy your movies with Jake! I envy you have something unknown to watch! Proof and Good Girl are one of my favorites! No 1 is Brokeback Mountain, no 2 - Donnie Darko

Yeah, So far my favourite is a close call between Prince of Persia and Brokeback. The thing is, the more I watch each film the more they become my favourites. I think Prince of Persia has to be my top fave - it was the first one I saw... and the one I've most watched...:-)
Is it me or has Jake got longer eyelashes than a 'normal' human being ? ;-) I wish mine were that long - it's so unfair!! They are GORGEOUS!

Hi Amanda.
Finally I get to "officially" say hi. I'm Sasha from Germany.
Same with me. Prince of Persia made me fall for Jake although I "knew" him from Bubble Boy (my 1st Jake movie ever) and The Day After Tomorrow.
After that I watched all other movies, but I spaced them out for about a year.
My top 5 movies are: 1. Prince of Persia (got me infected) 2. Source Code (I met Jake at the premiere.) 3. End of Watch (best performance) 4. The Good Girl (strongest reaction) 5. Rendition (hottest look)
But this list changes a lot. LOL

Hi Sasha
'Infected' in the right word! LOL! How does one shake off the Gyllenhaal disease?!
You are so lucky to have met Jake! I'm so envious! I'm working on it myself - positive thinking! :-)
I like Rendition - not enough of Jake in it though, but what a powerful film - it really disturbed me - my ex husband is Iranian.... and we had been through the wringer a bit ourselves with officials at airports and immigration officers etc especially when going on holidays abroad, so it touched a raw spot. I've only watched it once, trying to sum up the courage to watch again, but I agree Jake is so sexy looking in it ;-)
Am looking forward to End of Watch - not here until 23 November...got to be patient!

Hahaha! Prince of Persia (got me infected) as well. It was my first Jake's movie. I absolutely adore it and watched it the most often! But my no1 is BBM, no2 Donnie Darko. Both of these movies left me speechless for a long time. I had to rewatch them many times for many reasons.
Rendition I like a lot, but had to watch it a second time(LOL, like many Jake's movies - SC as well), cause the story is twisted with time and almost not possible to catch full meaning after first watching. Did you get it right, seeing it only once?

Hi Mermon,
Rendition was amazing with it's two stories going on together, what a surprise! I liked the idea of that. What I also liked about the film is that because the two tragic stories go on side by side there is no judgement about either 'side' - ie: The West and Islam. The film is like a documentary, it's like we are watching and not involved just like Jake's character has to, until he gives in at the end of course. I'm not sure if I've explained myself coherently. I'm interested to hear other people's feeling about the film :-), good, bad or contradictory!
And Oh, yes Mermon, I was bowled over by Donnie Darko and Brokeback myself too. I'm doing a Cinema Studies course at evening classes, and wrote a review about the first opening shot of Donnie Darko. I had to watch it several times, by the last time I was in tears - it's a very moving scene! And the music is so melancholy. I've watched both films twice all the way through now. Don't you just feel compelled to re-write the endings so they are happy! LOL :-)
