Thanks, mermon. Yes, I read this article as soon as the announcement came up on the gallery page. (Are you and I the only ones? LOL) It's great to be reading about Jake again. The piece is well written and very interesting, but it ends up being more of a promotion for An Enemy. This is a bit strange, considering that EOW opens in a month and Jake's play starts previews in 2 weeks. I also don't care for most of the photos. To me, the images clearly express the character(s) Jake plays in An Enemy. The article maintains that Jake is staying in character 24/7. Actors do this sort of thing, especially younger ones when they're also trying to figure themselves out as human beings. No big deal, but it's not good news to learn that Jake hasn't been biking or working out because of it. And of course, as everyone knows by now, I hate the smoking and really don't want to see pictures of him doing it. I'm expecting to see him smoke in the play. Damn.

evie: The article does make it sound like Jake stayed in one character or the other for longer periods. Probably because he had to play two characters who are so opposite at the same time. Don't worry about his health though. Twitter has had several ppl post about how they saw Jake at Soul cycle earlier this week, so I guess, the "I'm not working out." phase vanished with Adam/Anthony.

Thank goodness! And thank you for the news. I'm happy to know he's not neglecting his physical condition. He'll need his strength for the play, with something like 8 or 9 performances a week. Jake is one super busy guy with his play and then into a new film. Wonder how he'll do promotion for EOW? Mississippi Grind sounds like a rehash of The Hustler and The Color of Money, the two connected films about professional pool sharks. Paul Newman starred in both, in the first as the young con man and in the second as his worn-out older self. Tom Cruise played the young guy opposite him there. Maybe you don't know these movies; they go back 20 or 30 years, but they're classics by now. I hope the wirter-directors of MG can find a new spin for their story. Jake seems to be exploring his dark side, first with the serial killer video, then An Enemy, and then MG. Even in the play he'll be a troubled soul.

And last evening was his first play in theatre. But no reviews so far. Yes, I was thinking about that all last evening, wondering whether Jake was nervous and whether the performance went well. Technically, the show is in previews till the official opening on September 20, so the critics won't attend or publish their reviews till then. But maybe some folks who see the play before the 20th will share their reactions here or on Twitter. I don't do Twitter, so I'm hoping that those who do will report those comments on IHJ. I myself have a ticket for September 5, and will definitely have something to say. I'm excited. A note on previews: They are full and actual public performances. During previews, however, the director and actors evaluate how it's going and fix what's not working or generally iron out the wrinkles. Everything will be set in place by the time of the official opening. What surprised (and bothered) me is that the Roundabout is charging full price for the preview tickets. It used to be that theaters sold these tickets at a lower price, to draw audiences to a production that wasn't in finished form. The public was taking a chance on a play that hadn't been reviewed, and bad reviews usually mean that the show closes because no one buys tickets to it. But Jake's play is a production at a year-round theater company, and no matter what happens, the run will take place as announced. The Roundabout has subscribers to whom they give pricing deals. Jake's presence seems to have been a good financial move for the company, because nearly all the seats are gone. The subscribers get first choice, so the good seats go to them.

Thx Evie for that previews' explanation. Is it an American way of showing the plays. I don't think we do that in Poland, at least I never heard about that!

One of ourlurkers sent a report on last night's play: gyllenbabble.blogspot.com/2012/08/previews.htmlHope we get some more reports! There's a very negative review out there, but the Jake fans in attendance seemed to like it. And Jake is getting good marks
