I see, Maria, I'm not able to cheer you up, so I give up. If you see something interesting in your newspapers or on Italian sites, or TV about SC, or Jake/Duncan visit, maybe you could share with us. I don't think Duncan was shallow mentioning just few things he saw from a plain window in the darkness. His blog is about Source Code and it was no circumstances for going deeper "in Italy". So far I heard that Italians welcomed them and the movie with big applause. But it's not much more about their Rome visit..

Maria, I can imagine how you must feel, and I'm not going to try to cheer you up, because I can imagine, it's no use (I would feel the same) at this moment, however I really like to give you *UN ABBRACCIO FORTE* with lots of love!!! About Italian cities you're right: they are so much more than the "obvious" things people talk about. Personally, I went to Italy because I was interested to hear and learn about the history of the cities, and to see the beautiful architecture... and of course to enjoy the whole atmosphere there and to do nice things, visit interesting places... I didn't speak much Italian back then (1995)... I didn't have much time to learn, but now I'm making the time to learn a beautiful language I've always wanted to learn

Mermon i know that you've tried to cheer me up, but honeslty i don't see how read the silly and usual common way abou MY COUNTRY AND THE CAPUT MUNDI CITY Roma could help me..... It really don't help me that much reading someone that talking about something he didn't know, also the Hotel de Russie is a luxury five-star hotel located near Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo, in via del Babuino, very close also to via Condotti, where most of the houte couture boutique are located as well....juts to give to to Jones some name, hopefully he can speack correctly.... Sure Douglas Jones comes to Roma to promote his movie and he have just merely doing that. Why open his mouth and blabbling trying to be sterilely nice, instead of talking about something he well know? I don't know how other italians receive his movie, surely they don't read this bullshit of Jones about Roma.... We have a dictum in Italy "If you haven't something smarth to say better don't speack a word". The feeling i have is very bitter, also for POP nobody arrange a promotion here, so i don't think is such interesting to have some article posted here....LOL ;D

About Duncan and your opinion about him - I won't say anything, just don't want to go in that discussion. About Steve McQueen - it's no doubts he's a great actor, one of my top favourite.

Sure Steve McQueen was a great actor an an amazing fargile and sensible human being, a loss for the cinema industry....may rest in peace<3

I'm not sure how much realible is this, the article read 5 of April so i guess it's something quite nee: Gyllenhaal was spotted at trendy Locande Verde restaurant in Tribeca this weekend having brunch with a mystery blonde who, according to our fellow-munching spy, "looked like a cross between Rachel McAdams and Taylor Swift." Jake sure does love those blondes! Or, at least, pretends to...
"Jake was in a dark-blue pullover and jeans, and the girl was wearing a ruffled blouse and jeans," adds our source. "It was a casual meeting in the back corner booth. They were laughing and enjoying each other's company."
We saw the accompanying cell-phone pic, which was really too grainy to publish. But one thing was crystal clear about Jake's mood: That guy gives animated private-booth face.

Some update about Source Code and the italian sneaky promotion: rarely happens that a movie is acclaimed after a press screening, and the success in the theatre with Source Code, a fine sci-fi thriller by Duncan Jones at the theatre from April 29 in 300 copies, has an impact on the meeting with the author and his interpreter, Jake Gyllenhaal, creating a festive atmosphere of conviviality. Jones, in his second film after the critically acclaimed Moon, appears to reporters in t-shirt and torn trousers, with the air of ignoring the good result that the film has already been recorded in States, $ 15 million at the box office for a budget of just 5. Gyllenhaal, who carries on his shoulders the responsibility for having dug up the script and then enlisted in the draft Jones, it seems much more comfortable in this environment that the man in the role of the blockbuster Prince of Persia. We laugh a lot, in the room, the two exchange a few words: it seems clear that soon, very soon, will return to work together. "I have prepared a new project with Jake - Jones says - a very long-term project. " DUNCAN JONES: science fiction is in people
What differences between his fiction and the Hollywood blockbuster? Jones: I try to focus on the characters, because the fiction that I feel better, that is what I grew up with, is about individuals and how they are influenced by the world in which they live. My films do not care about the technology but to the person, how the character deals with the world. What are your favorite science fiction authors? Jones: I am a passionate reader of Dick and Ballard, two important authors, able to combine a visionary overview of introspection about the future of the characters. In his film seems particularly obsessed with claustrophobia. Why? Jones: No, not at all: the claustrophobia is simply a consequence dictated by necessity. I was only 5 million to make the film, I had to create a plan of attack and make a list of things that are absolutely essential. And given the small funds available, I could afford only one star and small places. I could not, then certainly depend on the varying British weather, so I had to turn around in the studios. Then of course, the fact that Jake has been to introduce the script, it means that he was clearly understood that it would be adapted to my way of making films. Why has attracted this project? Jones screenplay by Ben Ripley not only had the advantage of using respect with many themes dear to science fiction, but he could mixing that kind with many others: the film is a mystery, a thriller, even has some aspects to comedy. For a director is the best, how to give a juggler with six balls to run his hands. The film is anti-military? Jones: No, the film does not express an opinion against the military. In fact, I have respect for those who believe that having to commit to the protection of people. Moreover, it is inevitable, my family is divided in half: half are artists and half military. Jake Gyllenhaal: Donnie Darko return
You presented the project to Jones and he starred in the film other contributions? Gyllenhaal: Any idea in the scenes here and there, little things, I have proposed many ideas. Duncan has used its one quarter. What are the difficulties met interpreting this role? Gyllenhaal: I would not say that it has been difficult. I knew I had to deal with the repetition of many scenes, and that repetition would be successful only if we also slightly changed the scenes. In general it was great fun, especially when I acted in the capsule as soon as I heard the voice of Vera Farmiga, I was in front of a green screen and I had to use all my imagination, a bit 'like when I was a child. The hardest thing was trying to imagine how the public would react to the film. What would you do if You had one last minutes of life left? Gyllenhaal: call my family, then tried to make me laugh. The humor pulls you out of any situation. The humor and a plate of pasta.
Donnie Darko, Prince of Persia, Source Code: will be accustomed to the time shifts ... Gyllenhaal: The concept of a time gap is a subject which contains a highly charged narrative and it is comforting to know that an actor in the scene already exists a tension similar, regardless of its performance. I find this film more than one point of contact with Donnie Darko, which I did 10 years ago: I loved them both and I have faced with the same state of mind. Darko has been for me the transition from childhood to adolescence, with all the oddities of the case. Source Code is the transition from adolescence to adulthood, with the compromises that brings with it. In Darko was a rabbit, not here, but the rabbit somehow haunts me, as the film was released in the U.S. in contemporary Hop. How do you choose the movies? Gyllenhaal: By instinct. If reading the script I want to be in that movie, I do. After 20 minutes of Moon I knew I had to work with Duncan.
You loves science fiction? Gyllenhaal: I like it, but I'm not a huge fan. For me, the author of reference is Orwell. In this film, I has attracted to psychological-dreamlike, the theme of death and rebirth, something that has more to do with Buddhism than with science fiction. I loved the idea of a person who is continually asked to jump into the air, until it incorporates a certain message.
What do you think of the theme of the film, believes that the military can develop a technology that level? Gyllenhaal: I state that I do not think violence is necessary. I wish that there were programs that will allow us to go back in time to stop the planes of September 11, to stop the Japanese nuclear power plant, to stop few political leader. I repeat: the violence, for me, will never be necessary. Link with seveal pics, i guess mostly already spotted, btw here's: www.mymovies.it/film/2011/sourcecode/news/lafantascienzaaportataduomo/
