I wouldn't say you're a pessimist, jakesgirl. After all, movies are based on personal taste too. And while I really liked LAOD a lot I can understand if not everybody thinks it's a great movie.
If you don't like cop movies there is a chance you're not going to like EOW, but sometimes Jake can put a spin on movies we don't like. For example, a lot of people don't like Gwyneth in "Proof", but most people agree that Jake is wonderful in it. And I know for sure that not all Jake fans have seen Bubble Boy till the end. So really it's just a matter of taste and there's never pleasing everybody.

Well, I have a trust in Jake. So far, I liked all his movie. Maybe that means that he and I have similar taste. But of course, we all are so different, it's not possible Jake could please everybody. I think he's very deep inside and what he chooses now is quite deep, with a slightly light comedic tone in it. Besides entertaining films like POP for example. But he has the right for this genre as well. Actually I like that he has such a different movies. That way it's never boring to me. And somehow in all those different characters I still see our dear Jake. I am not a big fan of police movies genre, but I don't mind them. And I would love to see Jake in police uniform. I have a feeling he will look gorgeous in it. Michael Pena - I don't remember him from the movies but he looks quite nice, he may be a cop next to Jake, I wouldn't mind. On the pics, when he smiles I can see a charm in him. So two charming police officers - being friends - could be nice.

Me too, Mermon, none of the movies he has made up until now, is bad imo, and that's very unique (just like Jake himself!)! I feel the same about it, Mermon Me too! Oh yes absolutely, I think so too! About Michael Pena, I have only seen two movies with him "Babel" and "Crash", both movies I'm not enthousiastic about, didn't like them very much... and to be honest, I don't remember him in those movies... but indeed he looks quite nice and charming

It's nice we share similar feelings, Els. With Jake as an issue/subject - it's not so difficult. ;D

With Michael Pena I feel the same as with Michelle. I had seen her movies before too, but I only recognize her now that she's in Source Code.
And Jake in uniform is definately something to look forward to.

Uhmm new movie. Im saying this even if many of you will think Im a pessimist but seriously im not too excited about this movie. I dont like cop movies. They are usually kinda boring to me. Its an old setting....two cops..friendship..blaa blaa seen many times before. I was hoping he could do something new and fresh next. Well we still dont know much about the movie or the story...Im really hoping there is something great about the script or the story itself...other than just basic cop-drama. I do hope gyllenhaal isnt just hyping the movie by saying its a beautiful screenplay. I do trust Jakes word but just saying cause he did say LAOD was a GREAT story and I didnt like it very very much. I know im pessimist....sorry Well dear i understand you utterly, you're not pessimistic at all, and i agree with you that police/cops movie genre is a bit old settings, i have to say that i'ts a sort of standard for police movies, personally i like this genre, as i followed since i was young, but i can second you opinion, i mean i'm sure Gyllenhaal will do a credible perfomance, but as i've seen with LAOD sometimes expetation could be different, so i can say that we'll going to understand a bit more when more deatils will be surfaced!

I will never understand people like my friend (or Nathalie Portman) who think that Jake is not attractive.

I guess that Nathalie Portman shoudl look to herself in the mirror, as She's not attractive actually, i hate people that judges, the most fair thing to say is "Not my taste" or at least "He/she don't suit to my taste"

Oh, I always thought she was teasing interviewer saying all the compliments about Jake and then at the end - "... too bad that he's ugly". For me it was definitely a joke. Cause it's obvious that he's handsome. I think, that if she really thought this way she wouldn't have said that.
