Thanks for this interview, Mermon. I could tell from all his promo interviews how proud he was of being in this movie. That's why I feel so sorry for everybody involved that it did so poorly on the box office. i still hoping for a sequel as well, just to give Gyllenhaal a second change to pove he's quite good even as hero!

I'm so glad you like AVATAR Sasha! Cause my own friend didn't like it too much and I couldn't discuss it in details with her and I didn't have the power and will to convince her. It's not only about possibility of humans being invaders and destroyers on other possible planets. But it also reminds me the history of the naive and cordial Indians relegated from their lands, closed in reservations, deprived of dignity. Maria, believe me it makes a difference when you watch this film. First time I watched it on normal screen and I just liked the story, that's it, but someone convinced me to see it on IMAX and that's when I lost my head for that movie. It's difficult to describe, if you didn't see it. That 's why I had to go so many times. Every time I discovered new details, I didn't see before. And I liked that simply story, similar to Pocahontas. I didn't mind. Cameron didn't spend so much money for the story, he put his heart in it for the creations of new world. New creatures, nature, language. Chapeau bas! You're right Sasha - the created world is amazing and the score is great.

Hahaha, it took me a while to understand, that it was not me saying those words about being exciting, jumping and beating anyone. ;D I had the same feeling! Being satisfied with the movie, having immediate crush on Jake as Dastan, hearing him say what a joy it was to make that movie, be in Marocco, learn British accent, talk all day with that accent to people, sword fighting, horse riding, using shampoo and conditioner. ;D I felt so sorry that so many people didn't find him as a perfect Prince Dastan, which he was for me!

Seems like I found my match, Mermon. We have a lot of things in common.
Jake really is the perfect Dastan. I love this movie to death. Remember that discussion we had on WDW about accepting a movie's truth. I don't remember the word Susan used. I guess you and I are alike in this matter, that's probably why we both like Avatar so much as well.
I love for a movie to take me into a different world. Show me things that I don't see in my everyday life. Make me discover new world and imagine places I could never go. That's why I don't like drama or realistic movies as much as movies like PoP or Avatar. There is enough drama in my life as it is. I wanna get away from the things that I would also see watching the news.
BTW - about the TV, I am not a tech freak, we have a very small, 10 year old tube tv and usually I don't care, but with Avatar it does make a difference. Freaked me out when I saw those holy flowers raining down on Neytiri and Jake. With those 3-D goggles on it was just so real. Like you were there with them. Awesome.
And Maria - I will always like and cherrish you, even if you don't like Avatar :-)

Sorry but i don't get why i shall see something that imo doesn't deserve anthing, nor my time, nor my money, I've already stated that it wasen't a matter of right TV or theatre that support 3-d vision, is simply lack of interest, maybe it coudl be good for childs, but not over then this.... and sorry to be a little bit stubborn, but what you've mentioned is actuall the screenpaly of Pochaontas, Camron ripp-off from Dinsey movie add so many effect, so what? Where's the emotion?Where's the acting?Where's anything that could be called movie? Also if this should be a debating on Avatar i guess it could be useful goin in a separate thread as honestly all this chatting about avatar is bit boering to me...

Gyllenhaal went good quitting a role in Avatar, simply if I went to the theater to see Gyllenhaal, and instead i had seen that blueish beins jumping all the time, for sure would have been a ripp-off .

Maria , sure you're right, it's not Avatar topic. It just happened we shared our opinion about the movie. About Avatar being a movie for kids - well, I am certainly not a kid anymore but I have enjoyed that movie like a kid with my eyes wide open. I went to that movie, cause I heard that people just loved it, everybody were talking and writing about it, I wanted to check what was all about. And it was great for me. but I know some people who didn't like it like you, Maria and it's fine. Just different taste. I don't regret Jake was not playing Jake Sully, cause Sam Worthington was very good. And I saw avatar of Jake's face and I didn't like it too much, so it was not his destiny. I don't want to upset you Maria, no more, so I won't write about Avatar here. It just came out somehow.

MrsJakobGyllenhaal - - ;D "This is nice", quoting Jamie. I remember that discussion with Susan, Sasha, I forgot the term. It was something about enjoying the movie, even some unbelievable story, without thinking that is made up. Watching the story like a child, sinking in it, without doubting all the time the sense and the truth. I tried to find it cause it's very interesting in discussion about the movies general, but I couldn't find it. It's just too late for me, time to sleep. I have 5 hours to sleep before work.

well the mainly point isn't upsetting me or not, do not worry at all, as i'm fine with your opinion, you like avatar me not, but then just different taste, it's just that this movie isin't a movie to my eyes, it's based on 3-d animations so doesn't interst me. I shouldn't go to seen it even if Gyllenhaal was casted, i'm not the kind who'll going in theatre just as an actor that i like is in the cast! It's BTw do not worry at all!

I saw the movie three times, but I'll watch it again just for Jake.
It is the second movie I saw of Jake in theaters. The previous movies did not arrive in theaters of my city.
So the first time I went just to see Jake in theather. He seems to enjoy during the scenes, but the movie is very bad. I was never happy with the choice of director and with the choice of Gemma Arterton. Also, I do not like Jerry Bruckheimer.
Gemma has no chemistry with Jake.
