Yes, I watched Highway on line, but it's a version with Polish lector, no English subtitles. That's good movie, i don't know why it didn't hit the cinemas. Maybe Jake and Jared Leto were not so popular at that time yet to carry that movie to the audience. I think that's quite interesting story, I really like it. Jake/Pilot is sweet in that and at the same time totally careless and quite wise. I think if you make a collection of his movies, you should have it. It's a little gem.

Small correction: I said that I think he wouldn't hurt someone he loves... I didn't feel threatened by him, I don't know why, I apparantly experienced it totally different, Sasha I'm not sure if he would never hurt anyone, I just personally have the feeling he wouldn't hurt someone he cares for -certainly not the only person who, in his eyes, ever "got" him and he sees as his soulmate... I still see him as someone who would rather hurt himself... But I'm no expert, it's just my interpretation, how I experienced it Very interesting to read other point of views I think this is really a very profound movie, I love it! I would love to read "Catcher in the Rye", to get a more profound idea about Holden (Tom). In short, I know what the story is about (from what I read on the net), and I see Holden (Tom) a bit like the Holden in that story, with whom he identifies himself deeply. It's not really my kind of movie, but I think it's not a bad movie (up until now, I think Jake hasn't made one bad movie and his acting has always been superb; imo really unique! ), definately worth watching, imo it's Jake's amazing and believable acting that keeps the movie interesting. Pilot is stoned all the time (absolutely great acting by Jake!), but he's so sweet. He's sometimes indeed quite wise, but sometimes quite naive too imo, he's just adorable!

As I said before, I watched GG only once, long time ago, but as I remember that, I think, Justine felt relieved after Holden's suicide. At that moment Holden became a complication in her life, an obstacle in going back to normal life. She was more mature than him, but not mature or wise enough to predict the consequences of involving in romance with that type of an unstable man. It overwhelmed her and I think his death freed her. I'm just wonder what kind of a child Holden's baby will be. Over sensitive? Will be able to adjust to this complicated world. I hope so. They could make a sequel with Jake playing Holden's son after twenty something years. With aged Jennifer playing his mom. Showing how similar son is to his real father, but a bit more stable with different parents. What do you think? ;D wow i love your sequel Mermon, quiet ncie, so go on gilrs, and put it down in the sequel therads! I have so many to post like rention sequel, as well as LAOD sequel, but i don't wish to do all on my onw, i need helppppppp BTW surely you pointed well about Justine, at one point she felt like Holden is too hard and difficoult to dealing with, and then when she'e seen on the breacking news that he've committed suicide she felt relived, but i cannot be mild towars her she've fial in every possible way.... i have no sympathy towards her way of doing, and i don't justified her. I do belive that Holden surely is messy and aggressive, but never do nay harm to Justine, he's just sometimes obsessed, but surely not harmuful.....

I like your idea, Mermon, especially as it would have Jake in it! As for the blood thing, I agree with Maria and Els that it was probably meant romantically by Holden, but overall he just scared me. All the time I kept thinking like I was Justine: Why did I start this affair to begin with, how stupid, stupid, studid of me. Now how am I going to get rid of him (Holden) without completly destroying what little life I have left? Because, as miserable as my life may feel, it's the only life I got and I do have a responsability for that child too, whoever his father be. Thanks i'm such happy that i put it down a good tips about blood, as i said there's no need to be afraid if that scene to someone looks creepy, i guess everyone have a different way to approach to some scene, emotivity will changes from people to people. As for Justine i really didn't get why she slept with Holden and then, when it's becoming too much hard for her to stand a relatioship, sexual relatioship, with him try to wash her hand clean of all his trouble. It's not fair, i mean, Justine make sex with him, then just when Bubba spoiled her at the motel try to pushing him away? The scee where she go to Holden parents to conviced them to put their son into some mental istitute is such awuful.... Well Sasha ther'e nothing wrong if you've bonded very deeply with Justine then with Holden, even if a second look surely didn't hurt, i mean if the movie is good, you'll enjoy it even much more then the first time, about characters as i've said everyone is different, since the first time i've seen the Good Girl i bond so much with Holden, but i guess to me it's quite simple as i hardly liked the sterotypied female characters in movies, so i have quite a critical eye towards them all!

Small correction: I said that I think he wouldn't hurt someone he loves... Els, I stand corrected . So you think he would hurt Justine if he didn't love her anymore? I think so too, but I don't think it's a problem, right? I have only read the wiki information about it and you're right Holden in the book seems to be as much a disturbed or at least disoriented person as Tom. No wonder Tom chose to call himself Holden. I saw little tid bits of the movie and I agree, Jake acts pretty well being stoned. I wonder if he ever tried drugs?

Hehe, Sasha! Nope, because I just can't -or refuse to- believe he would ever not love Justine anymore... May sound strange, but I think given his personality, and the fact that he believes to finally have found his only possible soulmate in the world, he would not hurt her. When Justine starts to treat him bad, and in the end he feels unhappy, he still wants to believe everything will turn out good and they will run off together, and when she doesn't show on their appointment, he commits suicide. To me, that says a lot... Of course not, no problem whatsoever! On the contrary: I think this is a very interesting movie, that leads to very interesting debating, I love to see other pov's than mine, it makes the conversation more interesting and it broadens my mind!

I have watched today GG with my daughter, for the second time. I liked that movie very much, nothing has changed. Except, knowing the story and what to expect - I liked Holden even more (yes, yes) and Justin much less(yes, yes) then for the first time. I don't know if it was any chance for Holden to live normal life, but maybe after few more years, if he would mature more and met the right girl, who would give him some stabilization, security and love, maybe he could become more stable. It was a chance for that. Justine was a femme fatale, not only for him. In her own sweet, innocent way she made Holden fall for her, was cheating her husband. She tried to poison Holden, lied to him as well, in a weird way she made Bubba betray his friend, he loved( I know it's twisted a bit ), she frame her co-worker in non existing love affair and he got bitten up because of her, being innocent. She almost sent Holden to mental institution - maybe he needed that, but it was ugly, and she didn't do it for him, to help him, but for herself. And the worst of all - she blew the whistle on Holden, made police to find him, so she was the reason Holden committed suicide. Probably he felt betrayed, figured out/guessed that she was responsible for police action. Knew, that he has no future with her, so in his heart - no future at all. Just like a poor, lost child. And that story he wrote - and she read after his dead - almost broke my heart. And she got away with it, with everything! Her husband didn't know who her lover was,( she framed innocent co-worker), believed that child was his own. Poor, naive guy, with good heart. Never found out that he was betrayed by his friend too. She was real femme fatale. I can't tell I don't like her, but she should pay for something, at least a little bit. Not for being unfaithful, (I know she had hopeless life), but for causing, in absolutely thoughtless way, other people suffering. This story had no moral, at all. Jennifer and Jake were absolutely splendid together. He was so true and convincing. He awoke in me the need to help him, to hold and comfort him. ;D

Wow, Mermon, nice review. The more often I see this movie, it's starting to be one of my favourites. There is just so much in it. And Jake is absolutely wonderful in it.

I've seen it again on Friday (with a friend) and the second time around Holden didn't seem nearly as scary, but maybe I knew what to expect. Zodiac wasn't as scary the second time either...

I love this movie as there's a lot of tension in Gyllenhaal perfomance, he stand his role quite credibly and he become Holden, i love this movie, one of the best i've seen so far...
