Randy has told the exact same story at an earlier OHP Very odd !!! I guess Randy was in "performance" mode. A lot of celebrities retell the same personal stories especially when they do one person events or on talk shows. I don't think it's that odd that he isn't willing to spill his gut about his personal life every time he is on stage. Actors and public figures have to kept a piece of themselves private to maintain their sanity. How would you feel if strangers "fans" came up to you recounting personal stories they heard you tell? Now that would be an odd sensation. I would feel weird with strangers addressing me by my name. There is so much mind f****** that actors and public figures have to deal with that us private folks can't real understand.

Not really odd that he repeated the story (word for word) in that he was repeating his entire previous performance.
And it really was a performance. He had the monologue memorized like it was comedy act.
As was discussed on fan groups after his past OHP performances, one has to wonder how much of his little stories are true and how much are "enhanced" for comic effect.
For instance...the story he told when he sang Moves Like Jagger was hilarious and it seemed like a recreation of something that happened in his teen years, but maybe did not happen exactly that way.
And then there was the totally made up ( and darkly funny) story about a German priest named Fr. Joe Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict) molesting him when he was 10 while he was growing up on a US military base in Germany - used as an intro to his and James Berry's performance of Rolling in the Deep (Of course we know he was born in New Hampshire and lived there up until the time he and his family moved to Georgia. When he was 10 he was playing Winthrop Paroo in a Nashua, NH production of "The Music Man")
I think he has become a masterful monologist who can take things real or imagined from his personal life and tweak them to tell a funny story (I recall in the story about being in Germany as a child he mentioned having a vivid imagination)
and then there is this quote from Gale during an online Showtime Q&A
Q: Gale: which actor on the show have you learned the most from and why?
Gale Harold: I've learned the most from Randy Harrison. Because of his fantastic imaginary world filled with bizarre friends. He is constantly giving us good advice.

He looks stunning in that suit. I have to say I didn't like his performance at all. Maybe because I tend to compare it with the first performance of this song but... He wasn't funny, he blurted out his speech learnt by heart and then what? It's like he had to do it, and he did it. Nothing more than that. Couldn't agree more! I always figured that the stories he told were made up, but he could have done something different - it was like even he was bored with telling it! But yes - HANDSOME!

I agree with Phoenixrising (maybe the world really is coming to an end ) and Em. Performers *DO* repeat their stories. I've seen singers do this on stage many times (they usually do not have new things to say every night), and actors promoting films do this all the time too. They have one or two good stories and just repeat them over and over again. But most of all this was a Randy performance. I always assumed that he embellishes his personal stories. This was the last "Our hit parade" show, so I presume the performers had to do a "hit parade" song. Randy couldn't just perform the song without the story either otherwise that might have taken a lot of the irony out if it (there is no way he could sing this song seriously). I'm sad about this being the last OHP show. As a "foreign" fan this was the main way that I was able to see Randy perform. Fingers crossed that indie film gets off the ground and distributed.

Thanks for the photos, videos for everyone."Lucia" 7.) What is your favorite episode of the series? (I'm in the 9th episode of season 2.) 101 and 308. It's mostly downhill after 308 though I do love the last episode in series 3.

A person who attended told me that except for the ensemble performing "My Life Would Suck" as the finale, every single number was an exact repeat of each person's original performance.
She also told me that by the time Randy told his story and sang, every one of the performers was getting more emotional and a bit on edge and it showed in their performances. Alan Cumming, came on directly after Randy and mentioned what a long night it had been.
All told, it was a bittersweet celebration of the end of a popular show.

To say it was an emotional night would be an understatement. The cliched phrase of "...so thick you could cut it with a knife" definitely applied.
