The YPF site is not updated regularly. Gale's name was originally listed on The Blank's site and it has now been removed. The same thing happened when he was scheduled to do the 'Windows On The World' reading at The Blank. He was listed as a performer, then his name was removed and he did not take part.

No news yet about the convention. May I ask a question about all this speculation as to whether or not Gale and Sharon are still going to be at the convention? Is this the only fan list where this discussion is going on? I ask because I've communicated with friends who are on other Gale related groups and none of them had heard about this. Are other groups or lists having this conversation and is cryder's comment the only source of the report so far?

The discussion goes round on LJ, a german forum and there are tweets. Elke still hasn't confirm if Gale is coming or not coming to the convention. And she writes that she contacted the managers of Gale and Sharon on may 21. And that they are waiting for answers. We can only wait

Could somebody tweet Scott Lowell? he would probably know as hes a great friend of Gales and he was one of the first people who agreed to attend the convention and was instrumental in persuading the others, he normally tweets all the time but hasnt been on twitter for 2 days at the moment.

We are very sorry to have to inform you that GALE HAROLD, due to work commitments, won´t be able to attend the Rise’n Shine Convention in Cologne.
Despite all rumours we like to let you know that SHARON GLESS definitely will be present in Cologne.
For those who have purchased upgrades with Gale we will find individual solutions. **Those attendees will be contacted by us personally**.
Please understand that due to the short time till the convention and the therefore necessary workload, not every email can be answered immediately. We will do our best to work on everything as promptly as possible. We are sure, regardless these unforeseen circumstances, to offer you an awesome event with many highlights @ Rise’n Shine Cologne.
STATEMENT OF GALE HAROLD FOR THE CANCELLATION:
The first thing I'd like to say is that I truly regret not being a part of Rise'n Shine 2012. I am very proud of the American adaptation of Queer as Folk that I had the good grace to be a part of. I have to thank Dan Lipman and Ron Cowen for giving me that chance.
I'd love to be there to celebrate with you. Obviously QAF changed all of our lives. And that fact is more than just the echo of a well-worn phrase. In the years since the series completed, one thing has become very clear to me; there were many lifelong transformations that I, and I think my cast-mates went through while living through our characters.
I had been greatly looking forward to attending the convention, reuniting with all my old cast-mates and meeting all of you. A wonderful work opportunity has only recently come my way and unfortunately the scheduling of that project does not allow me the time to come to Cologne and join you. This disappoints me just as much as I fear it will disappoint many of you. I hope you will all understand and forgive my absence.
Whatever I gave to others through QAF, I received vastly more in return. I can remember when we started to hear the stories from those first watching the show. I will never forget being told by some of my brothers and sisters in the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community that they were hearing their own voices and seeing themselves, some for the first time, on screen. Not everyone in the community saw, or even liked the work we did. But there were many who found hope and solidarity in the stories we tried to tell. I've heard that directly from many of those who did. That is undoubtedly what I treasure most. The best we can do as story tellers is tell the truth and find someone to listen to us and respond; however it affects them and however we get there. We told the truth.
I had looked forward to being in Cologne with all of you and hearing some new stories. I will deeply miss hearing them. It would have been great after the years that have passed to be with the boys and girls from Pittsburgh together in a new city far,far away...
Sincerely, Gale Harold

Grape, so nice to hear from you again. I totally agree with you, this whole thing sounds like BS. Also, I feel like this statement was authored by his publicity team paid to ensure that his image and dedicated fans remain happy. I mean it is not like he didn't make a deal to get compensated for his time in cologne and being a guy that just had his second CW show cancelled, I don't see people in the business beating down his door to cast him in this "wonderful new project." Sorry Gale fans, but it is my opinion that he and his team are blowing smoke up your asses.

Sorry Gale fans, but it is my opinion that he and his team are blowing smoke up your asses. You and grapesmuggler quite obviously have no clue how things work in situations like this. Actors are not free to release detailed information about casting in a movie, TV series or play until the official announcement is made. When actors are signed to appear at an event or something like a fancon, it is written into their contracts that they are allowed to cancel if a film, series or other professional opportunity comes along. Those things are given precedence. This happens quite often, in fact. An actor cannot cancel out on an appearance contract unless there truly is a family emergency, illness or another commitment to make a film, start in a TV show or start in a play. To suggest Gale is backing out simply because he does not want to go and he and his team are lying about it, is ridiculous.

Long time no post, but here goes: 3. I cannot imagine ANY job that would not understand a prior commitment made 9 months ago that was only 3 days (2 of which were a weekend). If you can't imagine it, you don't understand that professional acting opportunities always take precedence over public appearances. If an actor is signed to do a film or TV series or begin a play, the people who hired him expect him to be available and actors have that escape clause written into public appearance contracts

I rarely post here because, honestly, I can never remember what my password is. However, I just want to say I feel really bad for those who are attending the convention (which doesn't include me) and expected to see the complete main cast together. I know for a fact some people purchased tickets solely because Gale was going to be there. I have to admit it smells a bit fishy to back out this late, but I remember people also cried foul when he didn't attend the cast reunion lunch a few years back though he had a legitimate excuse (which I believe was a death in the family if I remember correctly). If he does, legitimately, have a "wonderful work opportunity" I sincerely wish him the best and hope it pans out (and I sincerely hope it doesn't involve him in a project targeting tweens -- don't mean to offend but "Hellcats" and "The Secret Circle" were painful to watch -- if only he can find the right roles in the right projects he'll shine like he did playing Brian on QAF). Anyways, I understand people will be disappointed and upset -- I am and I wasn't even going to attend the convention! Not to be a pessimist, but I just don't know when there will be another opportunity for the main cast to reunite -- I'm sad for the fans and for the cast as well. However, with or without Gale it seems the convention will still be amazing and I really hope it's pulled off without any more glitches. Reiselust -- I wish you all the luck as you sort through all this mess -- I can't imagine what a headache this is causing! Though I don't know the man it sometimes seems like Gale is quite like Brian in many ways -- he just has to make things difficult, doesn't he?

Just wanted to say I'm really really sorry that the news about Gale's absence proved to be true. I really believe fans have the right to be upset, to be emotional. It's a normal reaction and I hope Gale and his team are not so suprised about it. In following days they need to suck it up and endure even angry words.
But on the other hand, I understand. He just lost his job and I know that with every day it's more difficult to survive in that business. And I believe being a lead role in QaF didn't help in Hollywood, not him not Randy. My heart is a little bit dissapointed not to see just one picture of him and Randy together, but life is a strange thing and who knows how everything turns out in the end.

Sorry to see, that the rumors became (partially) true! But the others are still coming, Cologne is a great city, it's not like the whole con is cancelled. There is always a risk buying con tickets and every buyer should have been aware of that. Now let's hope, that the 'wonderful working opportunity' is truly wonderful and not another indie on a never to be released DVD or some stage appearance. Reiselust - Dir gute Nerven bei der Bewältigung dieses kleinen Erdbebens! Schade, dass es nicht geklappt hat. Trotzdem viel Spaß mit dem restlichen Cast und eine reibungslose Con!
