I found since the start that this move was sad and that there wouldn't assumption of happy ending, the notes of the soundtrack were so sad. The first thing that focused my attention was the street rumors, as the cars sped along the road, and the noise of the train, which for some reason is related to my entire life. As Ennis DelMar standing alone agaist the Aguirre Caravan, all alone for a while, Jack Twist coming with his own old and messy truck. I've alwasy found that Gyllenhaal resembled quite a lot to James Dean in the Giant wearing those shirt, matched jeans and cowboy hat, and for reason even this movie is part of my life too. So immediately i fell in love with Jack Twist, the way he've stared at Ennis while he've shaved his face in the review mirror, everything in that scene impressed me quite a lot!

BM is not only my favourite movie with Jake, it is also my all time favourite movie! So beyond beautiful, haunting, as pure as it can get... Unforgettable! I think I must 've seen this movie 8 or 9 times by now and everytime it's just as beautiful (and sad) as the first time I saw it! I fell in love with Jake when I saw BM and I also -like Maria- fell in love with Jack Twist! Imo Jake should 've won every prize there is, for his role as Jack Twist! He brought Jack Twist to life in an absolutely amazing, profound, very believable, unique, honest way... *respect!* *in awe!*

absolutely agree with you Els, even if Gyllenhaal fav performance to me is Jarhead, but surely BBM is agreta movie, so touchy, both charaters are such real, you can feels Jack pain, you cen feel his fears, his passion, so agree it's not the usual movie, the audience live with charatres their story.....

I know Jarhead is my second favourite movie with Jake, he gives an absolutely amazing, very believable, powerful performance; "Oscar-material" imo!

I guess Gyllenhaal deserve already tow oscar, i'll never get why sometimes the really talented actor and actress will never enought as they deserve in Hollywood. I love BBM in some scene, as it's conflicted and dramatic, but sir truly emotions, like those where Ennis and Jack fight on the hill...awesome really!I love the way both characters are really masculine, but sensible at the same time.

As bad as it is, but for the last couple of years it's not all about being a good actor when you get an Oscar. There is too much of publicity and promotion behind this entire business to say being an awesome actor alone is enough to get you nominated, let alone win you an Oscar.

you could starts on YouTube, some users have upload in sevral parts the entire movie. Thanks for the idea Maria. I found a pretty good upload actually (in english). I watched up to the first tent scene now. Jake is very handsome in this. And I love Heaths voice. I'm really into those dark moody voices. As for the tent scene. It totally surprised me. I expected it to be more, I don't know romantic or so. I mean Jake just took his hand and then suddently - bang - it's over... There's no kissing, nothing. Very curious to see the rest now!

You're welcome Sasha, i'm gald to be helpful! The first tent scene is quite fast, rought, and fierce, has nothing to do with romantic, or other stereptipyes of classic love/sex scene. Jack pulls Ennis's hand beteween his legs to make him feels how much Jack is excieted, i guess the first sex scene show us how much violent could be the passion between tow real masculine man, and then the second going in opposite way, more slow, tender, but full of desire as well... I'm curious too now about your opinion on the entire movie!

Yep, I agree with you both; I think it's so unfair... You've described the first tent scene very well, Maria Indeed, it's rough and fast. The sexual tension has been building up until that moment (there are lots of non-verbal signs that show that the two men are attracted to eachother) and Jack is the first one to make a real "move" (pulling Ennis's hand between his legs), first Ennis is reticent, but Jack takes his head between his hands and they look at eachother and then Ennis gives in to his desire, he's a rough guy, so their first sexual experience is very rough as he takes over the initiative... I love that scene, I think it's very exciting I also love the second tent scene very much, as Maria says, it is indeed slow, tender, soft, loving, and it shows not only desire but also the real deep love they feel for eachother, and it's Jack who's "leading" this time... Unforgettable, beyond beautiful! <3

I love bbm! and agree with you people with everything you have said. I looove looove the script! You can see why it took so long to write it...its exceptionally great, eventhough english is not my mother language so...dont know if Im the right person to jugde but just my opinion. and I also thinks bbm is very well directed. You can see Ang Lee has "the eye" for great shots! He also brought the best out of Jake and Heath. After seeing this movie I was amazed with Heath cause I really didn know much of him and didnt know he could act like that!!! And of course Jake is really good in it too! And the scenery!!!! its is breathtakingly beautiful- I love nature and I totally fell in love with canadian nature after seeing bbm. Want to go there someday. Looks like a place where I could be happy.

Me too! I ordered the book "BB: Story to Screenplay", I'm so looking forward to it! I didn't like the book from Annie Proulx that much, because it's way to short for my taste, I LOVE to get to read many details, so I can totally get "into" the story and the characters; unfortunately the book doesn't contain much details. I admire the people who wrote the screenplay, it's so beautifully written, with eye for details; I love it! I totally agree! I feel the same way about it!
